How do I upload files to my site?
See Adding Files for step-by-step instructions for uploading files to your site. Unlike Segue v1, files in Segue v2 cannot be added directly to the your site’s Media Library. Instead you must create or edit a Text & Images or File content block BEFORE you can upload files.
How do I create one site for all sections of a course?
To create one site for all sections of a course, do the following:
- Create a site in the placeholder for one section of a course
- Click on the Make Alias link for the placeholder of one of the other sections of the course
- Type in and/or select the the placeholder of the section where the course site has been created
- Click on the "Make Alias" button.
- Repeat for all other sections of the course
By making one placeholder an alias of another site means that all links to the placeholder will be redirected to the site it is an alias of.
What is a placeholder?
A "placeholder" is the place where a site is created and is what becomes the name of the site that is included in the site’s url (e.g. https://segue.middlebury.edu
For course sites, the placeholder is the course code (e.g. span0101a-f09). For personal sites, the placeholder is a given users username plus whatever alphanumeric characters they decide to append to their username when creating a personal placeholder (e.g. achapin-etech).
What is an alias?
An alias is a another name for a site. Any placeholder for which a site has NOT been created can be made into an alias for another site. This means that when a user types in the url to that placeholder they will be redirected to the site that it has an alias to.
For example if [[curricular_techolology is an alias to "academic_technology" then all links to:
segue.middlebury.edu/site/curricular_techolology
will be redirected to:
segue.middlebury.edu/site/academic_technology
