{"id":2375651,"date":"2004-11-05T15:12:54","date_gmt":"2004-11-05T15:12:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/segue.middlebury.edu\/view\/html\/node\/2375651"},"modified":"2012-08-06T20:19:53","modified_gmt":"2012-08-06T20:19:53","slug":"segue-sakai","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/achapin-nitle\/segue-harmoni-oki\/segue-sakai\/","title":{"rendered":"Segue &amp; Sakai"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Untitled<\/h3>\n<div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"5\" hspace=\"5\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/segueproject.org\/achapin-nitle\/files\/2004\/11\/segue-sakai.gif\" \/>The <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Segue<\/span> collaborative learning system (released July, 2003) is very similar to the <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Sakai<\/span> collaboration and learning environment (released July 2004).  <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.phpoki.org\/\">Harmoni<\/a> parallels the <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Sakai<\/span> Tool Portability Profile and <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Polyphony<\/span> will mirror the Web Services for Remote Portals (WSRP) specification, allowing <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Segue<\/span> and its associated systems to function as portals, somewhat like what is envisioned with uPortal.  Thus <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Segue<\/span> developers plan to work closely with <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Sakai<\/span> developers to ensure that our systems with interoperate with Sakai tools.<\/p>\n<p>However <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Segue<\/span> provides a unique set of features and functionality that, particularly for small liberal arts colleges, may make it a better choice than any of the <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Sakai<\/span> applications as they are currently envisioned.  In particular <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Segue\u2019s<\/span> customizable, hierarchical, granular design and structuring of content makes it an excellent general purpose content management system for courses and blogs, archives and exhibitions, collections and research. \n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Untitled The Segue collaborative learning system (released July, 2003) is very similar to the Sakai collaboration and learning environment (released July 2004).
