{"id":710184,"date":"2008-05-07T06:58:09","date_gmt":"2008-05-07T06:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/segue.middlebury.edu\/view\/html\/node\/710184"},"modified":"2021-01-01T17:51:21","modified_gmt":"2021-01-01T17:51:21","slug":"mashups-in-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/2008\/05\/07\/mashups-in-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Mashups in Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/files\/2008\/05\/mashup-diagram.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"246\" height=\"92\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" \/>I attended a NERCOMP event on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nercomp.org\/events\/event_single.aspx?id=1336\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mashups in Education<\/a> last week where I did a presentation on <a href=\"https:\/\/segue.middlebury.edu\/view\/html\/site\/achapin-mashups\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mashups for the Masses<\/a> that described tools for creating mashups that don&#8217;t require programming such as Google Reader, Yahoo Pipes, Dapper, Popfly, iGoogle and Netvibes.\u00a0 I also attempted to categorize mashups into those by integration and those by aggregation.\u00a0 Finally I discussed various standards such as OpenID, Google&#8217;s OpenSocial, the Open Knowledge Initiative&#8217;s open service interface definitions (OSIDs) and Netvibes universal widget specifications that should make mashups easier in the future.<\/p>\n<p>There were a number of presentations on Facebook including<span class=\"text\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.harvard.edu\/gazette\/2008\/02.14\/04-hlink.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">H-link<\/a>, a Face Book application which uses Harvard University course enrollment information to allow students to link directly from Facebook to their course websites and another<\/span><span class=\"text\"> from Harris Connect that allows alumni to find and communicate with each other on Facebook.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I attended a NERCOMP event on Mashups in Education last week where I did a presentation on Mashups for the Masses that described tools for creating mashups that don&#8217;t require programming such as Google Reader, Yahoo Pipes, Dapper, Popfly, iGoogle&hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/2008\/05\/07\/mashups-in-education\/\" class=\"continue-reading\">More &rarr;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":29,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6088],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-710184","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news-708914"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/710184","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/29"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=710184"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/710184\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":200002892929,"href":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/710184\/revisions\/200002892929"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=710184"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=710184"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/segueproject.org\/curricular-technologies\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=710184"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
