Currently he has been collaborating in <a href=\"https:\/\/segue.middlebury.edu\/resolver\/segue1\/site\/codelab\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Collaborative Development Lab\">CodeLab<\/a> in development of a number of open source curricular systems including the <a title=\"Open Source Collaborative Learning System (CLS)\" href=\"https:\/\/segue.middlebury.edu\/resolver\/segue1\/site\/segue\">Segue<\/a> Collaborative Learning System and systems for managing digital assets, assessments and knowledge bases as well as a standards-based framework and architecture for building database-driven web applications known as <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/phpoki.org\/\" title=\"PHP implementation of OKI open service interface definitions\">Harmoni<\/a>.  He has received a grant from the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nitle.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education\">NITLE<\/a>) that supports some of this work.  <\/p>\n<p>Alex Chapin has a B.A. in psychology from Columbia University and an M.A. in History of Religions from the University of Virginia.  He has a keen interest in Tibetan Buddhism, is a member of the Nalanda Translation Committee (which translates Tibetan texts), and is the multimedia designer of &quot;Fluent Tibetan: The Vocabulary and Dialogues,&quot; a CD-ROM for learning Tibetan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Untitled Alex Chapin is an Educational Technologist at Middlebury College specializing in technologies for second language acquisition.
