It is complemented by Concerto,<br \/>\na digital assets management system, that focuses more on completed<br \/>\npublications. When integrated, these systems can provide support for<br \/>\nboth individual and institutional digital repositories along a<br \/>\npublication continuum.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a title=\"2005 Nercomp Annual Conference\" href=\"http:\/\/www.educause.edu\/NC05\/Program\/3612?PRODUCT_CODE=NC05\/SESS26\" target=\"_blank\">Building Institutional Repositories from the Bottom Up<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Systems for creating digital repositories must take into account the<br \/>\nneeds of individuals as well as the institution in order to be<br \/>\nsuccessful. This session will examine how the Segue Collaborative<br \/>\nLearning System allows its users to organically build and share their<br \/>\nown repositories within an institutional repository.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/segueproject.org\/segue-documentation\" target=\"_blank\">Segue Collaborative Learning System<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Segue is an open source \u201ccollaborative learning system\u201d for developing individual and institutional digital repositories along a publication continuum. Segue\u2019s customizable, hierarchical, granular design and structuring of content makes it an excellent general purpose content management system for courses and blogs, archives and exhibitions, collections and research.<\/p>\n<p>Open Source Partnerships<\/p>\n<p>The Open Knowledge Initiative (OKI) has defined standards for system interoperability that are being implemented in various open source projects including the Sakai project, Tufts Visual Understanding Environment (VUE), Lionshare and the next generation of the Segue Collaborative Learning System (CLS). We will discuss the implications of OKI standards in general and in particular will look at Harmoni, a PHP implementation of OKI open service interface definitions (OSID) that is designed particularly for the rapid development of standards-based PHP curricular systems in small liberal arts colleges.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Managing Evolving Content Along a Publication Continuum Segue is a content management system modeled on Web logs (blogs) that is designed for evolving publications.
