Grading Module<\/h3>\n

We would like to develop basic grading functionality for Segue.  The first iteration of such a module could consist of a "grading" plugin that would allow authorized users (perhaps only site administrators) to display all names in the site members list (i.e. class roster) and associate one or more grades with each name from the member list.  The first iteration of this plugin could leave the format of the grade unconstrained.  Any other user who has access to view a content block that uses the "grades" plugin, would only see their name (if they were in the roster) and any grades associated with them. <\/p>\n

This simple plugin would solve the challenging problem of informing students of their grade for a given assignment or course in a timely and convenient fashion.  See: Segue Tracker > Feature Requests > Grading Plugin<\/a><\/p>\n

Beyond this, here are some possible additional grading features Segue could include:
\n-submitting grades to the registrar
\n-simple spreadsheet functionality for weighting grades and calculating aggregate grade
\n-importing grades from spreadsheets or grading programs.<\/p>\n

It is likely we would proceed slowly in developing this sort of functionality primarily because there are some many grading tools on the market already.  As well, a lot of grading systems are closely integrated with online assessment systems.  Currently we’re using Moodle for online exams.  Segue v1 had some integration with Moodle that allowed site owners to set up Moodle sties for online exams that were associated with their Segue sites.  We will likely continue rely on other systems for creating online exams and focus on finding ways to make it easier for faculty to create online assessments for the students in their classes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
