ShadowBox is WordPress theme that allows blog owners to choose various theme “options” to customize the appearance and layout of the ShadowBox theme.<\/p>\n

New ShadowBox variations<\/h3>\n

WordPress users who have access to theme files can make their own variations of ShadowBox theme.<\/p>\n

Image Variations<\/h4>\n

Put images for your variation in a subfolder in the images directory and access them using the $options[‘background’] variable in the functions.php file (e.g. $options[‘background’] = <<subfolder_name>>)<\/p>\n

Variation Options<\/h4>\n

To display new variations to users, add them to the form in the shadowbox_options function. Update set_variation_option() with the default options and option value choses you would like to use in your theme. As well, update set_derivative_options function to set derivative options based on the primary options defined in the shadowbox_options function.<\/p>\n

Here are various ways to extending this theme.<\/p>\n

Background Colors<\/h4>\n

New background colors can be added to $options[‘background’].\u00a0 A given background color can then be used to set a number of other options including:
\n$options[‘background_color’]
\n$options[‘bgtextcolor’]
\n$options[‘bglinkcolor’]
\n$options[‘bgbordercolor’]<\/p>\n

The drop shadow used for most background colors is a .png file with a transparent background.\u00a0 This generally works for most background colors except black (which has its own set of images).\u00a0 Store these images in $options[‘page_image_directory’] and use $options[‘background_image_file’] to reference them.<\/p>\n

Background Images<\/h4>\n

Background images can be used with this theme as well and are also stored in $options[‘background_image_directory’].\u00a0 Currently “Gray-White”, “White-Gray”, “Yellow-White”, “White-Yellow”, “Blue” and “Green” all use background images.\u00a0 It is a good practice to set the background color to be something that approximates the dominant color of the background image.<\/p>\n

Use the $options[‘background_repeat’] to set the background-repeat, $options[‘background_position’] to set background-position and $options[‘background_color’] to set background_color.<\/p>\n

Header Colors<\/h4>\n

New header colors can also be created with $options[‘headercolor’]. Based on the header color, the following options can be applied:
\n$options[‘headertext’]
\n$options[‘headerdescription’]
\n$options[‘headerborder’]
\n$options[‘headertop’]
\n$options[‘headerbottom’]<\/p>\n

Sidebar Colors<\/h4>\n

New sidebar colors can also be created with $options[‘headercolor’].\u00a0 Based on the sidebar color, the following options can be applied:

\n$options[‘sidebar-right-border-bottom’]
\n$options[‘sidebar-right-border-left’]
\n$options[‘sidebar-left-border-right’]
\n$options[‘sidebar-left-border-bottom’]
