Curricular Collections a web application for creating collections of items whose presentation is determined by algorithms defined for each collection. These algorithms use a student’s response to an item as the basis for determining the next item to show them. Curricular Collections implements algorithms as plugins so it is easy to develop new algorithms and includes analytics to help evaluate the validity and reliability of items in a collection.
Curricular Collections was developed as a new platform for the Computer Adaptive Test for Reading Chinese (CATRC) developed by Professor Tao-Chung (Ted) Yao of the University of Hawaii in 1990-1993 with a grant from the United States Department of Education. The Segue Project instance of Curricular Collections also includes a Japanese placement exam developed by the University of Hawaii.
