Preliminary Proposal Outline

Based on our emails and discussion, have refined deliverables:
I Resources/Best Practices for Audio Capture and Delivery
1. Audio recording:
a.) research how best to capture audio clearly, quickly, and unobtrusively
b.) develop guidelines in posting audio and/or podcasts RSS feeds
c.) develop tools and techniques that support faculty and faculty developers
i.) in designing instruction that includes audio files/podcasts
ii.) capturing audio
iii.) publishing audio
2. Audio Metadata:
a) propose conventions for using ID3 tags to add metadata to audio files of educational material (e.g. lectures, discussions, presentations, language learning assets….)
b) develop guidelines for tagging audio files
3. Audio Editing:
a) experiment with editing large audio files into smaller files grouped into albums
b) determine reasonable length of smaller audio files
c) determine how to use tags to organize groups of smaller audio files
d) research ways of integrating audio resources into curriculum:

II Audio Capture Projects
1. Distribution of language learning audio assets
2. Audio capture and delivery of lectures from selected courses, presentations, workshops
3. Audio capture of student projects

III Presentations and Workshops
1. Present work at MANE IT leaders Meeting this spring
2. Organize a NERCOMP SIG on Capture and Casting next fall
3. Present work on iPods and 2nd Language Acquisition at ACTFL conference in November
4. Present work at NERCOMP 2006 annual conference
