Overview
Segue v2 has many of the same features as Segue v1, but these are implemented is a way that is more consistent, useable and useful. As well, Segue v2 is in many ways simpler to use than v1. That said, v2 does introduce many more features and is more flexible.
See step by step instructions to get a quick start using Segue. Included are screencasts showing how to create a site, add sections, pages and content blocks, how to set options, changes themes and theme settings and more.
Segue is designed to make it easy to create sites, many sites. By default, any user in a given instance of Segue can create as many personal sites as they want. Personal sites are namespaced simply by allowing users to append to their username any alphanumeric characters they want (e.g. achapin-blog) and using the result to create a site.
Templates
Templates in Segue are simply Segue sites that have been selected to be templates. They provide users a starting point when creating a new site which may have a particular information architecture and layout.
Themes |
|
The appearance of Segue sites can be customized with themes. Themes can also contain options that allow for variations of a theme such as changes in foreground and background colors. Advanced users can make their own copies of themes and edit the html and css of the theme directly to make their own variations. |
Editing Content Segue v2 supports multiple user interfaces (UI’s). The current UI under development is similar to those used for web-based aggregators like iGoogle and Netvibes. Like these and other portals, Segue uses AJAX coding techniques to allow for richer, more responsive and flexible UI. |
